Say Cheese... Bread

                    Say Cheese...….Bread!

Cheese bread is really good. So are mozzarella sticks. However, imagine is you want a crispy, golden cheese bread WITHOUT the baking. Also, imagine you want that STRECHED cheese, WITHOUT the frying. This recipe will give you all of that, and a bit more :) So, lets get cooking!

Please note: This makes 2 servings

Materials:
Knife
Bowl
1/8 cup
1/2 teaspoon
Pastry brush or spatula
Toaster oven

Ingredients:

Shredded cheese: You want shredded cheese because it melts quickly. The type of cheese doesn't matter. I used a Mexican Style Blend : A mix of Colby, Cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses.

Pasta sauce: I used a garlic and basil flavored pasta sauce. If you do not have pasta sauce, use marinara sauce or crush tomatoes over low-med heat with a bit of water, basil, garlic, and seasoning.

Salt

Pepper: You can leave this out if you want, but if you do use it, make sure it is finely ground.

Olive oil

Thick bread: This is KEY to this recipe. You want thick bread, thick enough so that you can split it in the middle.

Lets start cooking:

1. Cut the bread in half width wise. Take your knife and put it in the middle of the slice. With a sawing motion, cut all the way to the crust. Do the same on the other side. It should look like a pocket, like pita bread. Do this with the other slice.

2. In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup cheese with 1/2 teaspoon pasta sauce. Mix it together.

3. Take the cheese mixture and stuff the first half of the bread with it. Use a fork to push the mixture down into the bread.

4. Put some water on your hands and squeeze the open edge. Go around the edge with more water, flattening the edge out. Attach pieces of the bread that have fallen with some more water.

5. Repeat steps 2,3, and 4 with the other half of the bread.

6. Brush the bread with olive oil front and back.

7. Bake in the toaster oven for 5 min at 400 Fahrenheit

8. Broil at 450 Fahrenheit for 1 min

Enjoy with marinara sauce or by itself
